Each year, there are a long list of bowl games. Since money has become the single most influential driver for all things college football, the bowl games have sponsors now. These sponsors, however, change from one year to the next so it is hard to keep track of which bowl is which. On top of that, the bowls themselves change and the BCS championship bowl game where #1 and #2 play each year rotates between 5 bowl locations.

It is too much to keep track of these days but the good news is the bowls, sponsors, locations, dates and times are already set! Only thing left is who is playing in which game.
The tables below show the details of the college bowl games for 2013. The column for the ‘original name’ is what the bowl game used to be called before all the crazy changing sponsors came into play and may be what you heard people talking about when you were younger.
The last column for potential teams are the conferences where a team will be picked from to play. Teams are invited to play in the bowl and can choose to accept or not accept. Generally, they accept the invitation but sometimes they are offended by what bowl game invited them as they thought they should have had a nicer invitation.
For one more year, we are stuck with the BCS and a single bowl game instead of any semblance of playoffs. That changes in 2014 though when a couple of playoff games will be added.
