It is the high fashion and haute couture of Los Angeles vs. the outdoorsy Nike wearing grunge of Oregon. It is also the game of the week for week 9 – UCLA vs Oregon. All of you fashionistas out there – what do you think?
UCLA #12 vs. Oregon #3
Date, Time and Location: October 26th at 7:00 p.m. EST @ Oregon
Why this is a big game: This is a battle two Pac 12 giants. UCLA has one conference loss and they are looking to hand the Ducks their first one. This game could have serious BCS Championship implications. Oregon was surprisingly ranked #3 last week, just slightly behind FSU. If they lose to UCLA, there’s no telling how far they will fall.
Why Oregon will win: Their offense puts up crazy high numbers. Last week they scored 62 points against Washington State. Marcus Mariota is the front runner for the Heisman Trophy this year and appears to be virtually unstoppable. They feel slighted by the BCS giving them a #3 ranking and will come out playing like they are deserving of the #2 position. They are playing at home and will use that to their advantage to take down the Bruins.
Why UCLA will win: The Ducks’ defense needs some work. If UCLA’s offense can dominate the Oregon defense, then they should be able to come out ahead. They also have a more experienced front 7 on defense than the Ducks do. Anthony Barr is probably the best linebacker in the country and one of the few people in college football who can go head to head with Mariota.
Who will win: Oregon is favored by 23 points. UCLA is coming off of their first loss of the season and traveling to Oregon to play this game. I’m not sure if the Bruins have the ability to pull this one out so I will say the win will go Oregon.
One liners/Pick up lines for the game:
“AFLAC! Quack. Quack.”
“I wish Nike would give me as much money to by new clothes every week like they give Oregon to buy new uniforms.”
