Red River Rivalry

The Red River Rivalry is a good ol’ fashioned knock down drag out fight between the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns. These two teams really just don’t like each other which makes for an even more exciting game. Ever since these two teams have become National Championship contenders in recent years, the rivalry has become even more heated.

The game has been played at the Cotton Bowl, a neutral location in Dallas, TX since the early 1900s and is played at the beginning of October each year. Both schools have been complaining about the sorry state of the Cotton Bowl in recent years. If Dallas wants to keep the game, they are going to have to pony up some big bucks for improvements. Football players have no problem knocking the crap out of each other, getting nasty, dirty and sweaty, but they insist on doing it in a place that looks pretty? Are you kidding?

These two traditionally power house teams have also gotten brand new uniforms for the Red River Rivalry game this weekend. Their numbers are outlined in gold and there is also a gold Nike swoosh on the top left hand side of the jersey. I guess it only makes sense these teams get new jerseys before they go beat up on each other, because new jerseys make winners, right? NOT!!
