Oklahoma St vs Texas
Date, Time and Location: November 16th at 3:30 p.m. in Austin, Texas (one of the most beautiful places in all of Texas)
Why this is a big game: This is the biggest game of 2 top 25 ranked teams this week. Texas (#24) currently leads the Big 12 with a record of 6-0. Oklahoma St. (#12) is 3rd with a conference record of 5-1. Texas leads the series 23-4 and is looking to go undefeated in the Big 12.
Why Oklahoma St. will win: The Longhorns are terrible on special teams. Justin Gilbert of Oklahoma St. is just the opposite. He has set a new record in the Big 12 with 6 kickoff returns for a touchdown. Texas should be afraid every time they kickoff. Additionally, Texas lost two big players in last week’s tough OT win against West Virginia (the only team to have beaten OSU).
Why Texas will win: The Texas defense is not the same defense as the one that started the season (although that may be a good thing since their season started pretty shaky). Under the leadership of defensive coordinator Greg Robinson, Texas has held their opponents to 21 points per game. McCoy (QB) also seems to be coming into his own and is leading Texas to put points on the board.
Who Will Win: Texas is on fire lately. They are 6-0 in the Big 12 this year and are playing at home. They seem to do well when they are the underdog which they are in this game. I am giving a very slight edge to the Longhorns. Very slight.
One Liners for the Game:
“It’s crazy to think that the #24 team in the country can be ranked higher in their conference than the #12 team. I guess that’s the advantage of an out-of-conference loss.”
” At the beginning of the season, you would have thought that Texas was going to be terrible and not amount to much. Who knew?”
