The game of the week and possibly the game of the last two months, is LSU vs Alabama. Everyone has been waiting for Alabama’s next big opponent since mid-September when they played Texas A&M. Now, Alabama is faced with LSU, Auburn and likely the SEC Championship game in the next month to stay undefeated and play in the National Championship game.
There are a lot of folks out there rooting for LSU including Oregon, Stanford, Florida State and Ohio State. Of course, they are all insane to think there is even a remote chance of this occurring, but of course, I’m not biased at all!
LSU vs Alabama
Date, Time and Location: November 9th at 8:00 p.m. @ Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa
Why this is a big game: Realistically, Alabama has two big obstacles to overcome before they can reach the BCS Championship game. The first is LSU and the 2nd is Auburn. If they beat LSU, they control their own destiny to go all the way.
Why Alabama will win: Simply put, they are the best team in the nation. McCarron is as consistent as ever and the defense doesn’t let much get past them. They are an 11 point favorite, which is the highest point spread since their 2006 matchup when Bama was an 18 point underdog. For the past 2 years, they have lost one game in the month of November and had to depend on other teams to lose in order for them to go to the National Championship game. They are looking to only depend on themselves this season and go undefeated. Plus, they had a nice week off last week and are playing at home.
Why LSU will win: This is a tough one for me. LSU is still bitter about losing to the Tide last season 21-17, not to mention being shut out of the BCS Championship game 2 years ago. They don’t just want to take down Alabama on their home turf, they want to destroy them. They have only lost 2 games this year, but only by a field goal and to two very good opponents. The Tigers had a bye last week so they will be nice and rested to take on McCarron and the rest of the Crimson Tide.
Who Will Win: Please. At some point in time, the mighty Crimson Tide will lose a game, but it won’t be this one.
One Liners for the Game:
“If LSU wins, will this be Denise’s last post?”
“I’d love to see Les and Nick duke it out after the game!”
