Game of the Week: #2 Oregon Ducks vs. #16 Washington Huskies
Date, Time and Location: October 12th @ 4:30 p.m. EST @ Husky Stadium in Seattle, Washington.
Why this is a big game: For starters, this is the first time in College GameDay history they will be on the Washington campus. As I have said before, with few exceptions, you know it’s a big game if College GameDay is there! The Ducks are on a 9 game winning streak against the Huskies and average 25.8 points against them. They are currently favored by 14.5 points. Over the last two years, they are 9-0 against the spread when they are “road’ favorites and they have the longest running road game winning streak they are trying to protect.
Why Washington will win: The Huskies have had to face two difficult opponents back to back. Last week they suffered a tough loss against Stanford but gained respect when they outplayed them in certain aspects of the game. Today, they play #2 ranked Oregon. They have a great offensive line and QB Keith Price and RB Bishop Sankey make a powerful duo. They showed they are a force to be reckoned with. The Huskies have the toughness and speed to make the Ducks stop quacking.
Why Oregon will win: No doubt about it, the Ducks are a great team. They have scored at least 55 points on all five of their opponents so far this year. One of a kind RB Anthony Thomas was out last week due to an ankle injury. Whether he plays today or not isn’t a huge issue because backups Byron Marshall and Thomas Tyner have made their mark in the backfield. Critics say the Ducks don’t play a tough schedule and shouldn’t be #2. Beating the Huskies today will prove they truly are a great team that deserves their place in the rankings…right behind Alabama!!
Who will win: In my opinion, the Ducks will win, but they won’t cover the point spread.
